Edge of the Sword
Ride your horse along the edge of the sword
Hide yourself in the middle of the flames
Blossoms of the fruit tree will bloom in the fire

The Zen tradition speaks in paradox because truth lives beyond language. To ride along the sword's edge is to walk the impossible line between opposites—danger and grace, destruction and creation. Perhaps to hide in flames is to discover that what should consume us can also illuminate.
